American indie curly hair brand founded in 2003 by Shelley Davis, who developed the formulas in her kitchen after struggling to find products that worked for her daughter's natural hair. The range is deliberately small — just seven products — each built around humectant-rich botanicals including agave nectar, aloe vera, chamomile, nettle, and marshmallow root. Every product is 100% free from silicones, petroleum, mineral oil, carbomers, acrylics, drying alcohols, beeswax, and waxes, making the entire range fully CGM-approved straight out of the bottle. Kinky-Curly was one of the original indie curly brands long before the CGM movement had a name, and it retains a loyal following for exactly that reason — simple formulations, clean ingredients, and products that genuinely work.
